Burnout Control

CORE ECU facilitates a separate burnout control feature that activates a dedicated rev limiter upon user command. The following steps outline the process for configuring and enabling Burnout Control.

Burnout Control Wiring Setup

Note

  • Before beginning the below wiring setup, you will need to have purchased a harness for your specific application, you can purchase your specific harness here.
  • Additionally you will need to purchase the I/O sub harness.
  • HP Tuners recommends a momentary switch.
  1. Connect the I/O sub harness to your Drive-by-Cable or Drive-by-Wire harness.

  2. Mount your burnout control toggle, push-button, or momentary switch in your preferred location.

  3. Ground the black ground wire to the vehicle's chassis.

  4. Splice the burnout control toggle, push-button, or momentary switch signal wire to any of the available inputs from the I/O sub harness.

  5. Burnout control toggle, push-button, or momentary switch is now wired properly.

Burnout Control VCM Live Setup

  1. Download the latest version of VCM Live Beta here.

  2. Open VCM Live and click the drop down arrow in the group layout tab and select Race Functions.

  3. In the Race Functions Config tab in the top menu bar locate the Burnout Control Enabled parameter and change the value to Yes.

  4. Select the Burnout tab in the top menu bar and locate the Burnout Control Lockout Time parameter and adjust the lockout time (in seconds) to your preferred value.

    Note

A successful vehicle launch must be confirmed, and a configurable burnout control lockout timer must expire before burnout control is enabled.

  5. Locate all of the below parameters and change their values accordingly.

  6. Burnout control is now enabled. Use the section below to complete your configuration.

Burnout Control Tuning Setup

Note

Your professional tuner is your first line of support for tuning questions. We strongly recommend having all vehicle calibrations performed by a professional tuner.

  1. Locate the Burnout Control Engine Speed Threshold & Burnout Control Engine Speed Threshold Hysteresis parameters to configure burnout rev limiter activation.

    Note

When engine RPM reaches the defined threshold, CORE applies fuel cut, spark cut, or a combination of both to hold the target RPM.

  2. Locate the Burnout Control Cut Mode parameter to configure the burnout rev limiter cut mode.

    Note

    • Accelerator pedal security is disabled while the burnout control rev limiter is active.
    • You can also use burnout control to activate line-lock control; see the Line-Lock Control Calibration Guide for details.
