Launch Control🔗

CORE ECU includes a dedicated Launch Control feature that engages a temporary rev limiter on user command. Map-switching functionality is also available to further refine launch control behavior. The following steps outline the process for configuring and enabling Launch Control.

  1. Download the latest version of VCM Live Beta here.

  2. Open VCM Live and click the drop down arrow in the group layout tab and select Race Functions.

  3. Select the Launch Control Config tab.

  4. Select the Launch Control Enabled characteristic parameter to Yes.

  5. Locate the Launch Control Enable Throttle Position Minimum characteristic parameter and ensure the throttle position is greater than this value.

  6. Locate the Launch Control Enable Vehicle Speed Maximum characteristic parameter and ensure the vehicle speed is less than this value.

  7. Locate the Launch Control Activation Mode characteristic parameter and select one of the four mode options.

    Mode Description
    AlwaysOn When enabled, launch control is active whenever the global activation conditions are met (TPS, VSS, and RPM).
    TransBrakeSwitch When enabled, launch control is active while the trans-brake switch is pressed and all other activation conditions (TPS, VSS, RPM) are satisfied.
    LaunchControlSwitch When enabled, Launch control remains active while this switch is active/pressed, provided all other activation conditions (TPS, VSS, RPM) are met. Users can configure the launch control switch using Launch Control Switch Input & Launch Control Switch Input Inverted characteristic parameters.
    ClutchPedalSwitch When enabled, launch control is active while the clutch pedal is engaged and all other activation conditions (TPS, VSS, RPM) are met.

  8. Launch control's rev limiter is now active, Locate the below characteristics and calibrate each threshold to your application.

    When engine RPM reaches the defined thresholds, CORE applies fuel cut, spark cut, or a combination of both, to maintain the target RPM.

  9. Locate the Launch Control Cut Mode characteristic parameter and select from the following rev limiter strategies:

    Note

    • CutModeInjectionOnly = Fuel Cut
    • CutModeIgnitionOnly = Spark Cut
    • CutModeIgnitionAndInjection = Fuel + Spark Cut

  10. Launch control is now ready to be utilized.

    CORE confirms a successful launch when the below criteria are met:

    • Engine speed is near the Launch Control Engine Speed Threshold
    • Throttle position exceeds Launch Control Confirm Throttle Position Minimum during and immediately after launch.
